Ayesha Edmondson is 48 years of age. She lives in Bury, near Manchester with her 2 sons. Sadly her ex-husband has MND (Motor neurone Disease) and has very little time to live, although he is fighting it.

Originally diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) in September 1998, whilst pregnant. Ayesha’s diagnosis of CKD is FSG (Focal Segemental Glomerulosclerosis). Both kidneys are damaged and not filtering. Ayesha thinks it is genetic because other family members and siblings have diabetes and other kidney problems. 

From November 2019 to November 2020 Ayesha’s kidney decreased its function by 33% and

the current function is at 22 per cent. Ayesha is being treated at a hospital and is not yet on dialysis.  She is currently on various medications and she was told in November 2020 that she would have approximately 12 months to receive a kidney or she would have to go on dialysis.

Ayesha is very much aware of the stigma towards all forms of donation (organ, blood and stem cells) in the BAME communities, especially in her Asian community which is (in her words) largely due to a lack of awareness and understanding. Ayesha would really like to help raise awareness to create a far better understanding of this urgent need for lifesaving Asian donors.
